As wonderful work in traditional textile industry of our country, silk is favored by consumers because of its soft waxy handle, elegant sense, good skin-touch and unique pearly luster. But the fabric on the market today has very single species and narrow range of applications, besides, it also has some disadvantages such as poor color fastness, easy pollution and shrivel make it difficult to care, thus affecting its market demand. Therefore, it is very important to introduce new material and technology in silk industry, design and development of its high-performance multicomponent fabrics is worthy of further study. Outlast fiber is a kind of new smart fibers which has the property of temperature-regulating.In order to integrate this temperature-regulating property with the fabrics of spun silk, this paper used silk spinning technology to manufacture spun silk /Outlast blended yarn with blending ratio of 70/30、60/40、50/50, and designed 15 kinds of spun silk /Outlast blended fabrics with the content of Outlast fiber from 9.38% to 50%. This paper analyzed the effect of Outlast content, weft density and fabric tissue on air and moisture permeability, pilling resistance, hand feeling and temperature-regulating property of Outlast / spun silk blended fabrics. The principal conclusions of this research are as follows:1. Properties and style of spun silk /Outlast blended fabricsProperties: compared with the silk fabric, increase the content of Outlast fiber, the change of air permeability is not obvious, moisture permeability increase, pilling resistance decrease. Increase weft density can improve fabrics’ moisture permeability and pilling resistance, but air permeability decrease. Air permeability and pilling resistance of blend fabric change from large to small in the order of plain, twill, satin; moisture permeability change the opposite way.Style: the stiffness of spun silk /Outlast blended fabrics is between 3.0 ~ 5.0; smoothness is between 5.4~7.8; fullness is between 3.2~6.3. Compared with the silk fabric, increase the content of Outlast fiber, stiffness, fullness and smoothness decrease slightly. Increase weft density can improve fabrics’ stiffness, but fullness decrease, and the change of smoothness is not obvious. Spun silk /Outlast blended fabrics’ stiffness from large to small in the order of plain, twill, satin; smoothness and fullness change the opposite way.2. Temperature-regulating property of spun silk /Outlast blended fabricsSpun silk /Outlast blended fabrics have obvious thermal control ability. Increase the content of Outlast fiber, In the range of 20 ~ 38 ℃, the heating rate of fabrics decrease gradually; In the range of 32 ~ 6 ℃, the cooling rate of fabrics also decrease gradually, fabrics have good temperature-regulating property. Increasing weft density has little effect on the initial stage of heating and cooling process, but after the temperature of fabrics tend to be stable, increasing the weft density,heating and cooling process of the fabric became more slowly. When fabrics tissue are different, the process of heating and cooling are mainly caused by thickness and cover tightness.
