Water quality monitoring system is a kind of comprehensive monitoring system with the analysis of water quality as the core, providing the function of data acquisition, processing and analysis, which combined with information & communication technique, automation technique and computer technique. The system can monitor the variation of the water quality, and plays an important role in the prevention and control of water pollution, environmental law enforcement and decision making. The paper analyzes existing water quality monitoring technology. Aiming at the current problem such as simplex function and the lack of information processing ability, this paper provides and realizes a sort of hand-held ammonia nitrogen water quality monitoring system in order to further improve the quality of emergency monitoring and data processing ability.This paper proposes the overall framework of a hand-held ammonia nitrogen water quality monitoring system, designs the hardware circuit of the portable monitoring terminal, and completed the porting and application software design of monitoring system, realize the system monitoring center software and database under Linux platform. System test shows that, the hand-held ammonia water quality monitoring system designed in this paper achieve the basic functions, and meet the design requirements. The main work of this paper can be summarized as the following aspects:1. By analyzing the situation and development status of water quality monitoring technology at home and abroad, and combining with the current requirement of water quality monitor, the paper provides a sort of hand-held ammonia nitrogen water quality monitoring system designing scheme based on embedded technique. This system has the features of flexible monitor, cheap cost and easy to maintaining, which makes up the current systems’ shortcomings and be meaningful to the area water quality monitoring and emergency monitoring.2. Complete the hardware and software design for hand-held ammonia nitrogen water quality monitoring system terminal. The core circuit of the monitoring terminal uses the ARM9 processor, the periphery functional circuit is made up of data acquisition circuit, communication circuit and power management circuit. Complete the design and making for the related PCB. The monitoring terminal equipped with Linux operating system, and also uses the Qt overall development environment to develop the utility software, finally realizes the data acquisition & editing, data transmission, data query, data analysis and process function for the terminal pollution data.3. Complete the software design and optimization for the hand-held ammonia nitrogen water quality monitoring center. Monitoring center software includes the database design and application software design, providing the function for users like user privilege magagement, data query, data analysis, data process, data report and print preview. It is convenient for managing the water quality monitoring system and processing the pollution data. The paper uses My SQL database system storage and management data.4. Realize the visualization pollution data analysis and process function based on GIS. This paper designs the data query and thematic map analyze function, makes the water quality monitoring data effect geographic space intuitively. The users can analysis and process the data in hand-held terminal and monitoring center conveniently, improving area water quality monitoring ability and emergency response ability for further, and also providing significant reference for the environmental project and govern.
