The chemical and physical properties of melt are very important evaluation indicators. In metallurgical industry, the accurate measuring of melt physical property is the key to improve ingredients scheme and quality of metallurgical. Through the analysis of melt physical property measuring tester home and abroad, combined with advanced technology of sensor, measuring and control, a melt physical property comprehensive measuring system was designed, which can finish the measuring of melt viscosity, surface tension and density automatically.First, this paper studied the way of melt physical property comprehensive measuring, finding an automatic measuring way of melt viscosity, surface tension and density. Second, the 3d structure model of the tester was designed according to the measuring way. Finally, a melt physical property measuring system based on PLC was designed. Its lower machine can control the process automatically using S7-200 PLC and its extension module, and complete real-time acquisition of input signal(torque, quality, temperature, etc.) combined with the torque sensor, weighing sensor and thermocouple of high precision. Upper machine developed a software using Visual Basic 6.0, which can complete reading and processing of the data collected by lower machine and remote control of measuring process. Upper machine and lower machine can communicate using PC Access and OPC technology. The system with PLC as the core controller, combined with Visual Basic 6.0, has the stability of PLC and the flexibility of the data use of advanced programming language. Besides, it can shorten development cycle and reduce the cost. Moreover, this paper studies temperature control of melt physical property measuring, designing a fuzzy PID control algorithm based on parameters self-tuning, and simulates control algorithm combined with MATLAB.Through laboratory simulation and debugging, the PLC measuring and control system program runs normally and can finish the measuring process of melt viscosity, surface tension and density automatically. The upper machine and lower machine communicates normally and the software can read the data collected by PLC and realize remote control of PLC. Other functions of the system software have reached the requirement.
