Alkaloids, a group of naturally occurring chemical compounds that contain mostly basic nitrogen atoms, have various bioactivities including anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer. Alkaloids are primarily obtained from raw plant materials via organic solvent extraction. However, the organic solvents are volatile and toxic, which has become a great challenge to the environment. Ionic liquids have gained increasing interests in the past decade due to their unique physical and chemical properties, such as their extremely low vapor pressure as well as their high thermal and chemical stability. In this paper, the solubilities of camptothecin and berberine chloride in several imidazolium-based ionic liquids were measured using a laser monitoring observation method under atmospheric pressure, and the solubility data were correlated via five different equations. [C8mim]NTf2 was selected to extract berberine chloride from Corydalis Saxicola Bunting, and the process conditions were optimized. Additionally, silica gel immobilized ionic liquids were synthesized, and as sorbents, the adsorption abilities of berberine chloride and camptothecin were investigated by static adsorption method.1. The solubilities of camptothecin and berberine chloride in [Cnmim]BF4(n=2-8), [Cnmim]NO3(n=4-8), [Cnmim]PF6(n=4-8) and [Cnmim]NTf2(n=4-8) were measured using a laser monitoring observation method under atmospheric pressure. For camptothecin and berberine chloride, the solubility data were correlated via the dual-parameter empirical, Apelblat, λh, Wilson and NRTL equations. As temperature increased, the solubilities of camptothecin and berbeine chloride increased in the selected ILs. The ionic liquids with NO3- anion and the ionic liquids with NTf2-, NO3- anions exhibited good dissolubility to camptothecin and berberine chloride, respectively.2. The extraction rate as a indicator of berberine chloride, single factor expriment was used to optimize the extraction of berberine chloride from Corydalis Saxicola Bunting. The most suitable extraction conditions were shown as follows:40% CsmimNTf2 as extracting dissolvant with a solid-liquid ratio of 1:10, extracting for 5 h at 333.15 K. Under this condition, the extraction rate of berberine chloride was 88.48%.3. Nine silica gel immobilized ionic liquids have been successfully synthesized, and characterized by FT-IR. Silica gel immobilized ionic liquids as well as silica gel were used as sorbents to investigate the adsorption abilities of berberine chloride and camptothecin by static adsorption method. The result showed that the adsorption efficiency of berberine chloride in ethyl acetate is much higher than that in methanol for silica gel. And silica gel has a better effect than silica gel immobilized ionic liquids, owing to it has more hydroxyls, which could form more strong hydrogen bonds with berberine chloride. Additionally, silica gel immobilized ionic liquids, as well as silica gel, has little impact on the adsorption ability of camptothecin.
