Metal-organic coordination polymers or metal organic frameworks(MOFs) havebeen becoming a more and more promising area, for their artistically crystallinestructures as well as their enormous practical applications, such as gas adsorption andseparation, catalysis, luminescence, electrical conductivity, magnetism. Nowadays, the design and construction of functional porous MOFs is a challenge. In this paper, we introduced three three-dimensional(3D) coordination polymerswith the formula, [Cd(TPTC)0.5(H2O)2]·DMA(1), [Co2(TPTC)(H2O)1.5(CH3OH)0.5](2)and [Mn2(TPTC)(H2O)(DMA)]·DMA(3)(TPTC = [1,1’:4’,1’’-terphenyl]-2’,4,4’’,5’-tetracarboxylate), have been solvothermally synthesized and characterized. This paperincludes the following four chapters:In the first chapter, we introduced the research progress of the coordinationpolymers with carboxylate ligands briefly, the significance and progress made in thistopic. In the second chapter, the structure and properties of complex 1 weresystematacially introduced. 1 features a 3D porous material constructed byCd-carboxylate chains and the TPTC bridges. Complex 1 displays strong fluorescentemission in the visible region. Interestingly, the emission intensities of 1 in methanolenhanced upon the addition of Al3+and quenched upon the additional Fe3+overmixtures of ions. So, complex 1 can act as a useful material for the sensing of Fe3+and Al3+ ions.In the third chapter, we showed the structures and properties of complex 2 andcomplex 3. In 2 and 3, the uniform metal-carboxylate chains with the triple bridges(m-EO-H2O)(m-syn,syn-COO)2and(m-EO-H2O/DMA)(m-syn,syn-COO)2(EO =end-on) are extended by the TPTC arms. The magnetic studies of 2 and 3 show thatthere exist antiferromagnetic interactions between the Co2+ and Mn2+ centers. In the conclusion, we have summarized the structures and properties of the threecoordination polymers. Complexes 1-3 show special structures and properties, so thisresearch provided a new route for design and synthesis of porous metal organicframeworks with carboxylate ligands.
