In the process of grinding, the grinding wheel unbalance not only affects the working performance of grinding machine, but also seriously affects the quality of grinding.In severe cases, the unbalance can make the grinding wheel broken that threaten the life safety of the operator. Therefore, in order to improve the machining precision of the grinding machine and the service life of the grinding machine, the grinding wheel unbalance must be measured and controlled on-line.According to issues above, the work following has been done in this paper:1) The improvement was put forward based on the existing liquid balancing head structure and the balancing head was designed into sealed, in order to overcome liquid overflowing from cavity at low speed and low retention of precision was solved too. And then, the parameters of valve were analyzed, according to working requirements of the balancing system.2) The vibration model of two degrees of freedom about the grinding wheel spindle system was analyzed and established which is caused by grinding wheel unbalance. And the vibration model was used for the system calculation model. The experiment results have shown that the two degrees of freedom vibration model is higher than the single degree of freedom vibration model calculation accuracy.3) The least square method was used to fit curve caused by unbalance. The amplitude and phase of unbalance was solved by the least square method. The precision of the system can be improved by the least square method fitting curve caused by unbalance.4) The unbalance of grinding wheel was detected online by analyzing method based on Lab VIEW software. The new grinding wheel on-line liquid balancing system has higher precision by comparing the results.
