As the key part of rotary machines, the rotor with the character of dynamic balance has an enormous impact on running vibration character of the entire machine. Numbers of large rotating machinery, such as paper machines, steam turbines, generators, gas turbines, compressors, blowers, pumps, etc., are belong to the key equipment in paper, power, petrochemical, metallurgical and other industries. And if these devices break down, it would bring the serious economic losses. While, the vibration is just the important factor affecting the safe operation of these large rotating machinery. At the same time, it is always regard as "thermometer" of the large rotating machinery, which can reflects the safe and stable operation of these equipment directly. Therefore, departments of production and maintenance in the relevant industries always think highly of this problem.There are many reasons that can cause the vibration of rotating machine. The imbalance of the rotor is the most common cause, and occupies more than75%percent of the total number of failures. Rotor imbalance is caused by a number of factors, such as asymmetric rotor structure, defects of raw materials, tolerance in the process of manufacture and installation, as well as the thermal deformation etc.. While vibration character of the rotor itself, such as the critical speed and vibration response character, can also affect the whole machine vibration character. So these factors are considered priorly in the design and manufacture process, so it dose within the rotor repairing job.The rotor, according to its work status and mechanical properties, can be divided into two classes of rigid rotor and flexible rotor. Rigid rotor vibration principle is relatively simple, and its dynamic rebalancing work is easy to finish. We can work out the result by the relevant theoretical calculation. But many large and slender rotors, such as the rolls with high-speed rotation on the paper machine, may show the different status under different rotational speed. So we can hardly get the direct description of the vibration status quickly for this kind of rotor only rely on the theoretical calculation or instrument during the actual rebalancing and vibration analysis work,This article focus on summing up the actual operational experience of dynamic balancing for the flexible rotor and the jobs for theoretical research and exploration. While it adopts the finite element analysis software to study the vibration characteristics of the flexible rotor, in order that we could achieve the chart display for the result of vibration character instead of the complex mathematical models. During the study of this topic, the author adopt the methods of collecting the relevant theory of the rotor dynamics, introducing the practice application of dynamic balance machine and the dynamics analysis through the finite element analysis software Ansys, and to do the dynamic and vibrational analysis aiming at the typical flexible rotor, guide roll in dry section of paper machine.
