Humulus scandens (Lour.) Merr. is the plant of family Moraceae and genus of Humulus, and is commonly known as Lala seedling. The H scandens shade with moisture, vitality, rapid propagation and widely distributed. The H scandens is mainly grown in the temperate zone and subtropics of the northern hemisphere. In our country, in addition to XinJiang and Qinghai Province, Humulus scandens is distributed in Gansu, Shanxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Northeast, North China, South-central and Southwest etc. Recent years, as the medicinal and economic value in domestic and international improves gradually, the H. scandens has been increasingly reported in many researches year by year. The whole plant of H. scandens can be used as traditional Chinese medicine. And the H.scandens have a variety of pharmacological effects, such as, anti-bacterial, anti-tuberculosis, diarrhea treatment and prevention of osteoporosis etc. This paper summarizes the two aspects of the research status of H. scandens on pharmacological effects and the chemical composition in domestic and international recent years. With the awareness and research thoroughly, H.scandens has been widely applied in medicine and clinical, and more and more researches have been attracted by the chemical composition and activity of H.scandens. However, the researches on extractant and free radical scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity which are both related to chemical composition have been reported rarely. Based on these two activities, the researches of extractant of different solvents and inhibitory rate of tiny components after separating have been carried out in this paper. The in-depth separation and purification is implemented with the components of optimum activity, and the active experiments have also been conducted with compounds derived from H.scandens.In this research,95% of the methanol extract from the stems and leaves of the plant H.scandens, and fifteen compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate. And then the structure of the five compounds were identified by physicochemical and spectroscopic datas, respectively, N-trans-P-coumaroyl octopamine (2) Dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (3), Tribulusamide A (4) 6-hydroxy-6-(3-hydroxybut-1-en-2-y1)-1,1,5-trimethylcyclohex-2-enone (5), Simiarenol (6). Compounds 3,4,5 were first separated from the H.scandens, and compounds 3,4,5, and 6 were first separated from the Humulus. Compounds 2,3,4 and 5 all have good free radical scavenging activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity, The scientific evidence is provided for the development of anti-oxidant and anti-aging aspects of the drugs.
