With the rapid development of Chinese manufacturing, CNC machine tools which are the representative of numerical control devices are widely used and the requirements of the process ability are getting higher. This subject that is studied the deflection of large horizontal CNC milling-boring-shaft comes from the company of the Kunming Machine Tool. With milling- boring- shaft’ continuous elongations, the uncertainty of deflection reduces the machining quality and efficiency when processing the deep hole by this kind of machine tool. The corresponding technical indicators about the relationship between elongation and deflection are not given by the manufacturer when developing the products. The deflection also has to be reduced by targeted measures. The typical CNC TKS6111 is selected as the research object, and the relationship between elongation and deflection of its boring shaft is studied and analyzed. The main research contents are as follows:(1) The analysis method of the boring shaft’s deflection and its precision were researched and analyzed by the preliminary research and the actual situation. Two schemes were determined. One is the deflection analysis of the boring shaft by the finite element model. The other is the optimization of bearing span.(2) Considering the influence of the combination to deflection, backing bearing was replaced by virtual materials. The contact stiffness and damping were added to parts of surface’s combination. The simplified CAD model was built, and then the finite element model was built by ANSYS Workbench. The finite element model was corrected by modal test.(3) The boundary constraints and load were applied on the corrected finite element model in Workbench. The deflection of the center of the shaft’s end was analyzed on different elongation in fine boring machining background. The relation surface of elongation and deflection was drawn by extraction data. The deflection curve was further discussed under different conditions.(4) The finite element model was parameterized by Workbench and the design variables were analyzed and determined on the factors which affecting the deflection of the boring shaft. The bearing span was determined as the design variable, and the deflection of the end of the boring shaft was determined as the optimization target. To achieve the optimization objective, the boring shaft system was optimized to reduce the deflection.The article aiming to customer requirements, optimizate and analysis the relationship between boring axis elongation and the deflection and its deflection optimization,and its the results can provide reference data for deep processing production staff,while providing a scientific design methods and the optimal span value for designers.
