Packaging is a marketing method as well as the image of an enterprise. With the economic development of the Yanbian Area speeding up, its packaging industry is also enlarging while it is still quite behind other economically-advanced areas in the mainland.The ethnic culture is the soul of an ethnic group in a country, indicating her spirit and playing a role of spiritual pillar for her growing in the long history. The Korean Ethnic Group in China, as one of major members in the Chinese Nation Family, has inherited and carried forward its original tradition through being integrated with other ethnic cultures, eventually forming a unique culture of the Korean Ethnic in ChinaIn the process to modernization and industrialization, the traditional food industry of the Korean Ethnic has been negatively influenced in its healthy growing and sustainable development by old packaging ideas, lack of cultural characteristics, rough manufacturing skills, low level in packaging etc. Now it has become a valuable issue for enterprises, government and designing institutes in Yanbian, how to improve the cultural values and commercial values by integrating the rich Korean Ethnic culture into the food packing with artistic expression and cultural characteristics.The thesis analyzes and puts forward certain measures against the problems in food packaging of the Yanbian Area after massive readings on professional articles and historical documents and full researches on markets. It states the traditional culture of the Korean Ethnic Group, packaging design, the formation and development of Korean food culture, and the relationship between the Korean traditional elements and packaging design. In addition, the thesis analyzes the current development of the food packaging industry. And it further mentions how to establish a proper concept on the Korean food packaging with its characteristics. Finally, it comes to a conclusion that the food packaging industry should continually innovate by integrating the ethnic culture into design on the basis of traditional characteristics, tightly conducts the brand of outstanding specialties, rich varieties and strong marketing powers and wide influences in Yanbian. The Korean traditional culture is highly appreciated at home and abroad, which can be also cultivated as the fertile resource for brand upgrading. The elegant designing will support brand products of food to move toward international markets.
