| Wheat straw is one of the abundant renewable resources. It consists of lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose and some ash impurities. The chemical components of wheat straw are very similar with broadleaf timber, so it is considered as a good material alternative to timber. Oriented structural straw board (OSSB) is multi-layered structural panel produced from split wheat straw using diphenylmethane diisocyante resin. The mechanical properties of OSSB products are comparable with wood OSB. OSSB has many advantages such as superior mechanical properties, light weight, product diversification, and low cost. OSSB are widely used as building materials in wall, roof, floors, partitions, etc., and also used in the manufacture of furniture, flooring, packaging, interior decoration and other fields.Coated oriented structural straw board flooring is made using OSSB as base panel after sawing, mortising machining, finishing and coating treatment on its surface. This flooring was developed by Novofibre Panel Board (Yangling) Co. Ltd. It is a new type of floor products. Currently coated oriented structural straw board flooring has been successfully used in both public and residential housings. In order to regulate the production management of the product and protect the interests of consumers, it is of great significance to draft the industrial standard for coated oriented structural straw board flooring. This work can not only contribute in product standardization and quality control, but also strengthen the supervision and inspection of its industrial production. The standard project was proposed by Northeast Forestry University through the National Standardization Technical Committee of Forest Biomass Materials, and was approved by the State Forestry Administration in 2012 (grant No.2013-LY-060). The drafting of coated oriented structural straw board flooring forestry-industrial standard is based on the instruction in GB/T 1.1-2009 "Standardization Guide:The first part of the standard structure and write rules", GB/T 1.2-2009 "Standardization Guide Part 2 standard method for determining the content of the nonnative technical elements", and GB/T 20000-2009"standardization Guide". Section 1,2,3, and 7 in the standard draft defines the "Scope", "Normative references", "Terms and Definitions", and "Label, Packaging, Transport and Storage", respectively. Section 4 for General Requirements includes "Grading", "Appearance Quality", "Size and Deviation", and "Physical and Mechanical Properties".The "physical and mechanical properties" is the most important section in the standard, which regulates the physical and mechanical properties, the requirements of surface coating quality and formaldehyde emission of the flooring products. The specification for mechanical properties of products is based on the market demand and the results of testing samples. The test performances include modulus of rupture (MOR), internal bond strength (IB), thickness swelling (TS), and other key performances. The test items for surface coating include:adhesion of coating, delamination, abrasive resistance, hardness, particle, sagging, resistance to cracking, resistance to thermal cycling, and the color fastness to light. The standard GB IT 18103-2013 "Parquet" was used as major reference. In addition, the regulation for total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) was also included in this standard (72h≤0.5 mg/m2·h).The industrial standard of coated oriented structural straw board flooring has passed the standard examination for approval. It is expected to be issued by the end of 2015. The issue of this standard is of great significance for the production and application of the flooring product. |
