High accuracy positioning for miner is the future of positioning system in mine tunnel. It is extremely significant for coal mine accident rescue and daily personnel management. At present, general coal mine personnel positioning system, which is based on RFID or RSSI technology, can’t meet the requirements for high-precision location due to the complex underground environment, narrow, dark, wet and full of pipelines, causing serious phenomenon of radio wave multipath fading. So we have to figure out a new positioning strategy to achieve the high accuracy positioning underground.In this paper, firstly, we discuss the basic principle and theory of wireless positioning. Then we analyze the characteristics of positioning in mine tunnel underground. Secondly, we design a new set of personal positioning system, which is based on the phase difference ranging technology using AT86RF233 as core, in mine tunnel. We carry all levels of the system on the detailed design, from the perspective of the internet of things. Finally, we verify the system’s performance of high precision positioning by experiment.Also, consideration of the characteristics of the mine tunnel, we originally present a high precision personal positioning scheme in mine tunnel based on the linear frequency modulated continuous waveform to achieve a better real-time positioning performance. The paper gives a detailed description on the structure of scheme, signal processing and parameter selection. Finally, we use Matlab to verify the performance of the system with the model of electromagnetic wave propagation in mine tunnel. Finally, we complete the detailed design of the whole system by giving block diagrams and sequence diagrams according to the actual demand.The results of simulation and experiment illustrate that the system based on the phase difference ranging and the linear frequency modulation continuous wave can reach the requirement of high accuracy positioning for miners.
