Fused magnesia is a high-quality refractory material, and widely used in metallurgy, military, chemical, household appliances and other major industries and fields because of its characteristics of high purity fused magnesia, compact structure and high melting point. Presently, the equipment to produce fused magnesia is mainly composed of manual control three-phase AC fused magnesium furnace. Energy for melting raw materials all comes from electricity. Energy costs account for all costs as much as 50% to 60%. The enterprises which produce fused magnesia are mostly SMES. The lack of effective energy management measures in production process has led to frequently high energy consumption and low energy efficiency, and eventually led to the low-quality products. Therefore the establishment of a scientific and reasonable energy management system for fused magnesium furnaces is of great significance for the development of fused magnesia industry. For these reasons, we designed and developed the energy management system software platform for fused magnesium furnaces, according to the characteristics of fused magnesia production process. The main research work is summarized as follows:Firstly, we designed the energy management system software platform for fused magnesia furnaces combined with the research of energy management system and the status quo of fused magnesium industry energy management. The platform is designed as a four-layer framework, including eight functional modules, namely, data acquisition module, energy planning module, energy monitoring module, energy analysis module, alarm management module, statistical analysis module, system maintenance module and algorithm module.Secondly, we have developed the main program of energy management server, selecting ASP.NET MVC architecture as the major structure of the system. In order to improve the compatibility and scalability of the system, we have developed a standalone application to realize data acquisition function using the program language of C#. With the purpose of improving the operating efficiency of the system and the replaceability of algorithms, we have implemented the algorithm module with C++ and successfully applied the algorithm for furnaces energy consumption index distribution to the platform. Simultaneously, we applied a lot of graphical interaction techniques such as HTML5, SVG, Highcharts, jqGrid, to achieve a more humane interface. And we finally completed the development of the software platform.Finally, the energy management system software platform for fused magnesium furnaces is applied to the fused magnesia production enterprise to prove the effectiveness of the functions which are realized in the system. The results show that the software platform has the ability to help companies to achieve better energy management.
