Because of the excellent comprehensive performance, continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites has been widely used in many fields such as military and civilian. It has an infinite potential for future development and improvements. Continuous glass fiber reinforced polypropylene composites are studied as the object in this paper for the whole process from the impregnation to the forming. In order to establish melton impregnation model, analysis the influence of impregnation process parameters and molding process parameters on the property of composites, and research the effect of compatilizer on the interfacial properties of composites, three aspects of theoretical model, process parameters and interface bonding are considered. Theory and practice are combined to guide the preparation of composites. An impregnation model based on Darcy’law is set up by analyzing the impregnation process, this model could effectively reveal the degree of impregnation and trends by material parameters, the parameters of devices and process parameters. A numerical value is assigned to find that the methods to improve impregnation degree include increasing the number of impregnation pins, reducing the pulling speed and the resin viscosity, improving the impregnation pressure and reducing the number of fibers.Based on the impregnation model, the influence of pin numbers, pulling speed, resin viscosity and configuration of pins on the performance of prepreg are to be the focus of investigation. The accuracy of the model is to be verified. Research shows that the way to reduce porosity, improve impregnation degree and mechanical properties of composites consist of increasing the number of pins appropriately, reducing the pulling speed, increasing the processing temperature and using convex pins. DOE shows that the impregnation pins have the most obvious impact on the impregnation degree and tensile strength. The influence of molding temperature, molding pressure and molding time on the continuous glass fiber reinforced polypropylene composites are researched by prepreg. The composites with low porosity, high tensile strength and bending strength, well impregnation and good surface quality, strong interlayer bonding are prepared when the temperature is 220℃, the pressure is 5MPa, the time is 15min.The influence of compatilizer on the interfacial properties of continuous glass fiber reinforced polypropylene composites are investigated by PP-g-Mah. When the adding amount is 10%, the porosity decreased about 20%, the bending strength and interlaminar shear strength improved by 30% and 60%, the storage modulus increased, the loss modulus decreased, and the interfacial bonding became stronger.
