Flocculation sedimentation technology is an important separation technology, it has a long history as a key separation process in water treatment, chemical industry, mineral processing and other industries. Especially in the water treatment process of flocculation sedimentation unit is normal operation. The flocculation sedimentation applied in removal of algae and leather wastewater treatment have studied,The results indicate that p H is a key factor influence the flocculation sedimentation effect.The effects of the p H of chitosan-modified flocculant and the p H of Microcystis aeruginosa culture on the algae-removingl efficiency were studied in the present work. The results indicate that: The final p H after flocculation was the key factor affecting the flocculation efficiency for both indoor cultured M.aeruginosa and field M. aeruginosa blooms, the final p H should be adjusted to 7.0- 7.3 to obtain the best flocculantion effect. The effects of amount of polyacrylamide(PAM), ferric chloride(PAFC) and the p H of sewage on the removalrate of the organic particles in leather waste were studied. The results showed that sewage p H is the key factor affecting removal rate, the best CODcr removal rate appeared when p H is 7.0 even the consumption of PAM and PAFC is relatively small.When final p H was suitable to flocculation, clay density should be increased for the efficient sedimentation of high-buoyancy cyanobacterial blooms. These results suggest that the composition of chitosan-modified flocculant must be changed according to the p H of water-body and the algal biomass to obtain the best algae-removing efficiency, and the flocculation process should be carried out when the p H of water-body is low and the algal biomass is small.Moreover, the activated carbon and diatomite were studied toimprove the settling performance of sludge when sludge bulking occurred, a loading of 1g/L activated carbon reduced settled volume in a short time. Comparing to activated carbon, the effect of diatomite was relatively slow, but much better than activated carbon in a long time. And these mean that the adding time of the two substances should be different. The actual application has reached the expected effect by changing the process according to the results of this study, and achieved significant economic benefits.Through two application instance of flocculation sedimentation technology, natural polymer flocculant, organic polymer flocculant, and inorganic high polymer flocculant have used, with strong representation. So results of p H influence the effect of flocculation sedimentation research can be applied to the flocculation sedimentation industry,it lay the foundation to improve the efficiency, reduce the costs of flocculation sedimentation.
