High quality, high efficiency and low cost are the basic driving force for enterprise development.The turning processing of 42 CrMo steel was taken as the research object in this paper.It provides a basis for improving machining process of 42 CrMo steel parts. It has strong practical value for engineering application. And it has positive effects in improving machining efficiency and reducing the manufacturing cost of products.By using the method of combining the turning experiment and computer simulation,the accuracy of the cutting model was verified.The effects of different coating materials and cutting parameters on cutting force and cutting temperature was studied using the verified finite element model. The regression equation of the cutting force and temperature was obtained by regression analysis.The influence of the coating and cutting parameters on the cutting force and cutting temperature was studied by orthogonal test.The cutting parameters and coating of 42 CrMo steel were optimized by range analysis.Through the error analysis, the significance of influence of the factors on the cutting force and cutting temperature was obtained. The tool life tests show that,compared with the experience of cutting parameters,cutting efficiency could be doubled after optimization.It established a prediction model of cutting parameters on cutting force and cutting temperature. And it has verified the accuracy of prediction model through the error analysis.
