High speed machining has been used in many applications as a high efficientprocessing method recently. The metal cutting tools often wear and damages, even thetool bar fracture during machining, therefore it effects the surface quality andprocessing efficiency seriously. With the guidance of the finite element analysis, athree-dimensional finite element model of high speed machining is built using thenonlinear finite element software ADINA which developed fast in recent years. Thehigh speed cutting tools are analyzed and the method of processing parameteroptimization is proposed, so as to provide a new tool for the study of some phenomenonin high speed machining processes.Taken steel Q345as experimental materials, surface processing experiment isconducted in three schemes with the maximum processing speed, good quality and lowprocessing speed, general processing speed. A large number of examinations of partssurface quality and tool wear condition in many cutting experiment is processed.According to the three schemes, the reason of tool lose efficacy is analyzed use ADINAsoftware the process parameters are optimized. The conclusion is that the cutting speedis higher, the tool wear more quickly and in the control of each layer processing volumecan both guarantee the quality of surface processing and improve the processingefficiency. The mould core part is processed according to the optimized processing schemeand the actual processing test is done. The results are comparison researched, and theoptimization design scheme is presented. Through this research and practice, thismethod can improve the surface machining quality in a certain extent and the processingtime is shorten to provide quick response to market demand.
