High seed cutting (HSC) is an advanced manufacturing technique, growing up rapidlyin recent 20 years. And it is respected as a main direction of research and application in thefield of cutting technology. The new concept of HSC has made traditional cutting theoryre-understood. This paper has researched Finite Element Method (FEM) which is used inHSC and optimized cutting parameters of a specified material.Firstly, while establishing HSC finite element simulation model, the involved keytechnologies are studied. After testing the reliability of the model, the relevant parameters(cutting force, temperature) are analyzed.Secondly, combining the high nonlinear mapping ability of artificial neural networks(ANN) with the ability that finding optimum in overall range of genetic algorithm (GA),the author establishes the HSC parameters optimization model to optimize the HSCparameters and uses ANN to predict relative physicals and analyses the experimentalresults. At last, a software of HSC parameters optimization is developed through combinationof LabVIEW and MATLAB, which could give reference for workers.
