The ability of making a complex, high-speed and high-precision machine tool is an important symbol of the country manufacturing sector with the development of numerical control industry. In order to become a powerful country in the manufacture industry, the machine tool has been raised to a strategic position. At the same time the“high-end CNC machine tools and basic manufacturing equipment” is launched officially which is one of National Science and Technology major projects. The paper relays on the development and application of the special CNC system based on the secondary development platform which is depended on the National Science and Technology major projects. The paper presents the key technologies of the crankshaft grinding on the summary of the crankshaft grinding development situation at home and abroad. The research results have a great practical significance to promote the development of the special national machine tools and improve the accuracy of the cut point tracking grinding.The mathematical motion is established based on the analysis for the characteristics of the crankshaft cut point grinding. The constant thickness grinding method is designed and implemented that meets the accuracy requirements of the crankshaft better compared with the spindle neck equivalent angular grinding method. The cubic spline curve approximation algorithm is proposed on the mathematic model of the complex wheel center trajectory. MATLAB simulation proves that the cubic spline method has higher precision, better smoothness and needs much less approximate segments in the same precision than the equal interpolation error. Finally the error of the cut point tracking grinding is analyzed and established the mathematic model. The crafts error is explained and simulated with MATLAB. The corresponding compensation method is proposed in the paper.
