The opening section of the cold roll forming steel is an important kind of economic profiles, with low consuming energy in the rolling process, high dimensional accuracy,smooth surface,light weight and many other advantages,which has been widely used in more than a dozen major industries, for example the constructing industry,the automotive industry,machinery manufacturingindustry,highway industry and so on. The continuous roll forming process is the major producing method of cold roll forming steel,as the process is very complicated combined with several deformations including lateral bending,longitudinal tensile and lateral shear deformation,and so on which resulted that we mostly depend on the experience to design the rolling pass and formulate the crafts.So to study typical continuous opening steel roll forming,to master the regulations is very important for the production.Pass design is the basis of the entire roll forming process,and the design of the roll flower is the basis of the pass design. At present, we always use the traditional way to fulfill the design of the pass and the drawing of the roll flower which can not meet the requirements of speed. To solve this problem, this paper based on the Visual Basic platform,and combined with Auto CAD software developed a software which can fulfill the design of typical opening steel roll pass and the roll flower design.This paper first introduces the research status and the development trend of the roll forming theory at home and abroad, and analyze their advantages and disadvantages, then analyze the roll forming characteristics and deforming law. The traditional molding process generally use the side roll to form, but this molding process is difficult to control the size of the rebound angle and generally can not obtain a good molding effect. To solve this problem, using the pass design software we designed a set of channel steel pass which used cornering process, and then based on the elastic-plastic large deforming finite element theory we simplify the channel steel forming process, use the MARC finite element software conduct thethree-dimensional finite element simulation analysis to the channel forming process, and finally obtain a good molding product. By analyzing the variation of the stress and strain in the molding process, we get the forming rule. In the whole process simulation, we studied different molding factors to the forming, including the different angles factor and the different forming passes. Also we studied the rebound of the plate, and give the angles of before and after every pass. In addition, we also respectively designed a set of pass of curves inward channel and curves outward channel, and then conduct the whole roll forming process, we finally got the stress and strain in every pass which can be the further study reference.
