Blue coke is a coal chemical products obtained during the coal with low phosphorus, low sulfur and low volatile cryogenic in Yulin region dried distillation at low temperature, the coke powder with 15% is produced during its production. At present, it is mainly used as the metallurgy reductants and the lower value fuel, and its economic value is rather low. In order to improve its useful value, its graphitization possibility and graphitization effect has been studied, and the chemical plating copper on the surface of the graphitization product is studied when the coke powder is used as the graphitization raw materials.On the basis of the industrial analysis a nd elemental analysis of the coke powder, the possibility of that it used as the raw graphitization materia ls was studied, its graphitization effect was studied with the help of X-ray diffraction, SEM and so on. The result shows that its graphitiza tion degree reaches 90% when it directly graphitized at 2500℃, its graphitization degree reaches more than 90% when it be graphitized at 1800℃ with the help of 10%C u、 1%Fe2O3 and 1%TiO2 as catalyst, the graphitization temperature decreased about 700℃. In addition, the graphitization temperature is higher, the 2H special structure of graphite products is more complete and its purity is also improved, especially when C u powder is used as catalyst, the product has more three-dimensional reticular structure. However, when its graphitization degree reaches more than 90%, the added copper amount is at least about 8%. Considering the selection of high quality and low price, Fe2O3 is used as catalyst in the graphitization process of the blue coke powder.Because the surface of the graphite is difficult to be directly electroless plating copper, it must be pretreated. At first, its surface is pretreated with five step including hydrophilic, surface roughening, sensitization, activation and reduction, the influence factors on electroless plating copper on the surface of graphite were studied, such as the concentration of main salt and reducing agent, the ratio of complexing agent, plating temperature, plating time and other factors. Results show that the optimum conditions of electroless plating copper is 20g/L of C uSO4, 15mL/L of HC HO, double complex system( 15g/L of C4O6H4 KNa and 25g/L of Na2EDTA), 60 ℃ of the plating temperature, 20 min of the plating time, 4g/L of the charging capacity, and the copper coating integrity is formed on the surface of the graphite, the plating effect is better.The results provide the theoretical and technical support for the graphitization of blue coke powder and copper coated on the surface of graphite, and open a new way for its application, but also promote the healthy development of coke industry in Yulin area.
