The output of wire and special wire is smaller compared with any other metallurgicalproductions, but it plays an important role in our society However the domestic technology isfar behind the international advanced technologyThis paper introduced a new method of metal processing──roller die drawing. Itcombines the characteristic of rolling and drawing. Compared with conventional die drawingmethod, the friction, velocity, and deformation condition in deformation region have changedessentially Nonuniform deformation and friction between metal and tool has been improved,therefore drawing force and residual stress is reduced. So it can improve surface quality,enhance the die service life, omit lubricating process, simplify the drawing procedure and soon.This paper lay emphasis upon introducing the deforming rules. And based on the termof force and energy equilibrium, this paper has solved the calculating formula of drawingforce. Obtain the practical calculating formula of drawing force by compared with any otherformula of drawing force and the measured result. Elementary reason affecting the drawingforce is given, the reason of saving and cost reduction with roller die drawing is revealed.This paper developed a computer aided roll pass design (CARPD) program that canquicken the process of roll pass design of roller die.The studies improved that roller die drawing is an advanced metal processing techniques,which can replace conventional drawing.
