Sludge is not only an important index to evaluate the dispersion ability of gasoline oils, but also an important evaluation item in VE Bench Test. Since the high cost of VE Test, sludge-simulating test have been applied widely to examine the sludge forming tendency before it be prosecuted. In the article, throughout reconstructing the current sludge simulating device, two phases heating model is introduced in order to simulate the stop-and-go driving mode in VE Test and real driving. Some important parameters: gasoline, NOV, Air, for instance, affecting sludge formation and simulating test have been investigated by the device in statistical method. Experimental results and data analyses indicate that FCC has significant effect to the formation of sludge, NO and reaction time have important effects to the formation of sludge, other parameters, such as air, temperature, have definite effects to it. On the understanding of experimental results, some test conditions with good distinguishing ability to the sludge formation of commercial SJ grade oil and FSH oil have been selected, their correlation with yE Test have been attained by using several VE Test reference oils. A set of experiment parameters which shows good correlation with VE Test (R20.8243) has also been achieved. A developing oil which would be tested by VE Bench was studied under this condition, and predicted that the oil could pass the test. The actual VE test result of this oil testified the prediction. So it is concluded that the experimental result under the condition of simulating test can reflect the result of VE test at a certain extent. At the end of paper, infrared spectra, element analysis and TEM are employed to analyze the sludge formed under that condition and in VE Test.
