In this paper, current study situation and application prospect of the luminophors doped with rare earth is reviewed. The preparation of extra fine indium oxide and luminophor of indium borate doped with rare earth and spectral characters of luminophor are studied. Indium borate has high emitting intensity according to the results of luminophor's excitation spectra and emission spectra, and its color of the luminophor is pure .it has certain value of application.Extra fine indium oxide is prepared by urea assist combustion method as follows, indium, nitric acid and urea are mixed together in a corundum crucible to form the precursor solution and then burned at low temperature. The results of measurement are ,particle size(0.063um) and ellipse of crystal form. The method optimism is , the temperature of nitric acid dissolving indium at 70?C or so; the igniting temperature and time of combustion reaction at 500?C and 5 minutes respectively; the mole ratio of indium nitric and urea is l:2.0.The methodology has the advantage of simple equipment and easily controlled condition ,the particle size of the prepared product is easily controlled and its purity is high. In this paper, it is studied that particle diameter of indium oxide affects on luminescent intensity of fluorophor.Fluorophors of indium borate europium and indium borate terbium are prepared by high-temperature firing method and indium oxide, boric acid, rare earth oxide(europium oxide ,terbium oxide) and fluxing as raw materials.1 The preparation condition optimism of indium borate europium is, In2O3:H3BO3:Eu2O3=l:2:0.03( the ratio of mol), 1200℃ of calcination temperature and 4h of calcination time.2 The preparation condition optimism of indium borate terbium is, In2O3:H3BO3:Tb4O=l:2:0.01(the ratio mol), 1300?C of calcination temperature and 5h of calcinations time.The excitation spectra and emission spectra are measured by F-2500 flurospectrophotometer. Indium borate europium emits 610nm of red light when excited by 307nm of ultraviolet. Indium borate terbium emits 550nm of green light when excited by 273nm of ultraviolet and its peak is high and narrow, which shows that the color of the luminophor is pure and it has certain value.In this paper, the principle of luminescence and the self-concentration quenching principle of trivalence europium ion are discussed.
