Organic concept chart theory and foam separation technology are applied to the purification of active constituents from Chinese traditional medicines in this paper. The tremendous improvement of technology in separating the active constituents of Chinese traditional medicines is of universal and applied significance. The application of organic concept charts in Chinese traditional medicines is mainly to calculate the organic character values and inorganic character values of the active constituents of herbs (traditional Chinese medicines), which can ascertain the distribution of the active constituents of traditional Chinese medicines in an organic concept chart. The relationship of the active constituents of traditional Chinese medicines with organic concept charts is analyzed, which can commendably validate the properties of the active constituents of the most traditional Chinese medicines and explain the extraction and separation, pharmaceutical preparations and compound mixing of several traditional Chinese medicines On the other hand, the properties of other active constituents of traditional Chinese medicines can be conjectured and new medicines can be screened according to the distribution of traditional Chinese medicines in an organic concept chart.Foam separation technology based on the surface activities of proteins and glycosides etc. in herbs (Chinese traditional medicines) can be used to concentrate and separate active constituents of Chinese traditional medicines. The experimental results show that foam separation is a simple and effective method to separate and concentrate glycyrrhizic acid.
