With the development of the nano-technology and the contiuous discovery of the nanameter length scale chemical materials, the nanometer length scale materials have shown the remarkable performances in many fields. Thus, much attention have been paid to the nano-scaled chemical materials.My teacher have been studing the synthesis and application of the ST-G-PAMCT W/O emulsion paper additive and the technology of the Bentonite-AM interlayer emulsion grafted-polymerization. On the basis of it, nano-scaled groups of the solved dispersed emulsion particales of the Bentonite-PAM-PDMDAAC grafted copolymers were prepared by the in-situ intercalating copolymerization in W/O emulsion. Thus, the monomer AM and intercalating cationic monomer DMDAAC was polymerized in-situ of the lamella layers of the Bontonite. Using the polymerization heat , the lamella layers of the organoclays were exfoliated. Then, nano-scaled groups of the positive sol were formed in the activation water system. As the single ingredient paper additive, it will exhibit lots of the excellent performances, such as the enhancement of paper property, decrease of the white-water pollution and improvement of the environment of paper making.At the same time, the effects of the reaction condition, such as the concentration of [AM], [DMDAAC], [KPS] and the ratio of aqueous phase to oil phase, on the polymerization heat ,as well as the relationship between the polymerization heat and the separation degree of lamella layers, were studied. The XRD data and FTIR spectroscopy analysis confirmed that DMDAAC were inserted between lamella layers and lamella layers were exfoliated. In adaddition, the structure and size of nano-scaled groups of the positive sol was characterized by the elctrophoresis.
