In the last thirty years, the studies of the biological activities of complexes have received tremendous attention. Cisplatin and carplatin as anti-tumor drugs have been used in clinical for many years. Gold compounds poccessing anti-tumor activities have also been developed.The Pt complexes take the most highlights in anti-tumor drugs, other metal ions such as gold, silver, mercury and rare earth were also found having promising anti-tumor drug screening.In this paper, we synthesize twenty complexes of mercury and rare earth. The complexes are HgA NH3(A=C3H2O4,C6H604,C7H804), HgC3H2O4 L(L=C3N2H4, C5H5N), RE2A3 6H20(RE=Dy, Sm, Eu, Gd, Nd):A=C3H2O4, C6H6O4, C7H8O4). Fifty of them are reported at first, weconformed their structure and composing by element analysis, IR and thermo-analysis. By the pharmacology experiment we found that most of them were active anti-tumor complexes.These observations suggest that the mercury compounds may be considered as candidate for potential anti-tumor agents.
