In this paper, the development of multifunctional composite fiber materials for silk products is studied. By means of various combinations of mulberry silk with such textile materials as silk floss yarn, silk wool yarn, linen, viscose, soybean fiber and silk elastic fiber, which are fit for small-batch production, six major categories of high-quality composite silk materials (burn-out, soybean, silk floss, elastics, silk linen, and silk wool) are developed, covering more than one hundred types. Not only are they designed in a novel style, these new materials are also post-processed by multifunctional technique, so they are characteristic of the functions of protecting against water, oil and contamination. Apart from being the perfect materials for summer wears, nightgowns and casual wears, they can also be used for curtains, watch bands, insteps, as well as high-grade household fabric. By exploiting the desired multifunctional uses of silk, the research is expected to widen the range of silk products, making them better cater for the customer needs.
