In this paper, the computer diagnosis for cotton spinning evenness faults was researched. With regard to the idiographic technical character of cotton spinning, the variety and causation of the evenness faults were analyzed and summarized. The feasibility and the demand orientation for the development of computer diagnosis system of cotton spinning evenness faults were analyzed. The program was designed according to the established project, and the computer diagnosis was achieved.In the process of research, the feasibility of computer diagnosis was discussed firstly. And considering the practical manufacture of cotton spinning, the demand orientation of the software design was analyzed. Secondly, according to the theory of expert system in artificial intelligence technology, the holistic thinking and structure of the software system were confirmed. In addition, considering the causation of evenness faults, the main diagnosis functions were decided. The mathematics models of main diagnosis functions were established. And the particular principle of the computer diagnosis was also discussed. At last, for the complexity of practical manufacture and the deficiency of main diagnoses, some accessorial diagnosis functions were developed with the database technology.In the process of development, according as the result of analyze of the mechanical wave diagnosis and the draft wave diagnosis, which made up of the central diagnosis function, program algorithms were design toward different process and different machine. Then, some accessorial diagnosis functions were developed with the database technology, including the special spectrum diagnosis. And to extend the functions of the software system, some accessional functions were appended, including technical calculation, index calculation, computer inquiry, accessorial tool and so on. At last, system functions were tested, and program was optimized. To modify error and consummate functions, calculation functions and diagnosis functions were analyzed according to practical examples.Though testing of functions and analysis of program, some results can be given. The computer diagnosis system developed in this paper can realize the diagnosis of the majority of evenness faults. The mechanical wave diagnosis function and the draft wavediagnosis function, which made up of the central part of the software system, were strong enough. It can realize the majority of spectrum diagnoses, not only toward current process, but also toward different process. It can ultimately achieve the diagnosis of evenness faults. Special wave diagnosis and experience diagnosis can realize the diagnosis functions for special or complicated instances. The accessorial diagnoses can also output diagnosis results correctly. And the accessional functions provided the calculation and the inquiry functions for the technician. These accessional functions were useful to increase the efficiency of the daily grind in cotton spinning enterprise.This software system has a friendly interface and a convenient and applied operation character. Obviously, this software system has a comparatively high practical signification.
