| Numerical simulation technology, which is efficient and low cost, has been widely used in iron and steel industry. Many researchers at home and abroad have studied on the simulation of continuous rolling process of rod and wire. Limited by the calculation speed of computer, the former investigation mainly focuses on one section of the process during the simulation of the rolling process of rod and wire with 3D elastic-plastic finite element method (FEM). In addition, it cannot gain the accurate initial temperature field and cannot describe the true rolling process because of adopting the method of cutting down the distance of roller and using equivalent heat transfer coefficient. Up to now, few works was reported on adopting 3D elastic-plastic FEM model simulating rolling process with the actual size and distance of rollers. In this thesis, the numerical simulation of the process of continuous rolling has been carried out by means of nonlinear finite element software-MARC. Elastic-plastic FEM is used to study the temperature field of hot continuous rolling and a 3D thermo-mechanical coupled model is built which can really represent the size of every section of the process. During the process of simulation, a new idea is introduced which calculates the temperature of sample for every section and transform the result of calculation to the next section by the technology of interpolation mapping. The study, which adopted the method of controlling the rigid body to push forward the deformable body, can not only get a good accuracy of calculation, but also improve the efficiency. The series models solve the technology problems on the simulation of continuous rolling process under the present conditions.Considering the producing practice of rolling mill of Liaoning special steel Group corporation, the program is applied to simulate the temperature field of 304 stainless steel of every section coming from heat furnace to 18 passes continuous rolling. The calculated results agree well with the measured results. It demonstrates the accuracy of calculation and lays a foundation for the further study. This work is proved to have some academic value and practical merit in some degree. |
