Scale inhibitors are often added to the systems in order to prevent the scaling on and corrosion of the exchanger or the pipes in the industry recirculation water system. Copper-alloys are easily corroded in the medium of the inhibitors. Only in the special medium and using appropriate doges of scale inhibitors and corrosion inhibitor, the corrosion rate of copper-alloy can meet the standard of the state. Some ions in the water also can corrode the copper-alloy. The corrosion of copper-alloys caused by scale inhibitors (such as HPAA, HPMA, PBTC, HEDP and so on), corrosion inhibitors (i.e. BTA, TTA, K2Cr2O4 and so on) and ions (for example, SO42-, Cl-, Fe3+ and so on) in the water were determined. The results of the experiment showed that the scale inhibitors had a strong complexity for copper ions, the corrosion took place when the doges of scale inhibitors had been used, the corrosion of copper-alloys caused by the scale inhibitors was generally a type of corrosion of zinc removal at the general concentration, the corrosion rate of copper-alloy would descend with the enhancement of the concentration of corrosion inhibitors, the effect of organic corrosion inhibitors is generally better than inorganic corrosion inhibitors, and that the effect of the ions on the corrosion rate of the alloy depend on the type and the concentration of the ions.
