The poly(diallyldimethylammonium choride-acrylamide) PDA was prepar ed by inverse emulsion polymerization. The PDA' s intrinsic viscosity w ith inverse emulsion polymerization was 2. 89dL/g when the monomerremuls ifier=100:7(mass ratio) and the Span85:Span40=0. 55:0. 45 (HLB≈4) and the initiator mass ratio of oxidant and reducing agent was 1:1. The influe nce on the PDA' s intrinsic viscosity and yield by using different propo rtion of the emulsifers and different proportion of the monomer and emu lsifier .using different in-feeding quomodos and different initiator qu ality ratios of oxidant and reducing agent was inspected.The PDA which were synthesized in different formulas and process co nditions, its ηsp/c~c and ( ηsp/c)-1~c-2 curved lines in pure water and different low molecular weight electrolytic agent solutions was observe d and described. The PDA' s performance in pure water and different low molecular weight electrolytic agent solutions was showed that in pure w ater, ηsp/c rose while the consistency descended and in low molecular we ight electrolytic agent solutions, viscosity was lower when the electro lytic agent' s consistency was more dense or the negative ion' s radius was bigger.The flocculation capability of PDA which were synthesized in differ ent formulas and process conditions was discussed and the flocculation capability of PDA when compounded with alum was discussed too.Compared with PAM, the PDA' s flocculation capability was much more better and had lower dosage and better flocculation effect when compounded with alum, the best dosage of PDA(2. 89dL/g) compounded with alum was:PDA3.1mg/L, al um 25mg/L,the UV permeance ratio was 98.5%.It was also do well when add ing in some dusty water.
