The research of the surfactants with boron is still in the initial stage. At present, much attention had been paid to the study of the surfactants with four coordinate boron oxygen heterocycles structure, however, the main work was focused on the synthesis of the surfactants containing boron with short-carbon chain alkyls and their basic properties. Little literature on the aspect of surfactants containing boron with long-carbon chain alkyls had been found.Using diethanolamine, boric acid, hexadecanol as starting materials, after a series of reaction such as vapour phase process bromizating, esterifying, alkylating, a new type of surfactants with boron RNB had been obtained. The structures of the compounds had been identified by elemental analysis, IR and HNMR. The optimum conditions of synthesize RNB had been accomplished by the methods of factor analysis. And the best conditions were as following: alcohol as solvent, sodium carbonate as acid absorbing agent, refluxing for 8h. Under these conditions, the yields of intermediate products 1-bromohexadecane and NB were 97.0%, 91.0% respectively, the yield of the final product reached 88.0%.Special emphasis was on the exploration of surface tension and critical micelle concentration, and the effects of pH, inorganic salt and temperature were also evaluated. The complexed systems were also explored, and the best result was accomplished when n(RNB):n(LAS) was 2:3 and n(RNB):n(CTAB) was 1:1.
