Considering the requirements in high reliability, high cost performance and facility for operation in machining special-shaped stone, the paper introduces and constructs the architecture of the NC system based on software NC ideology. The computer NC system for special-shaped stone is developed based on object-oriented technology and module technology.The hardware in the NC system is consisted of the IPC, I/O card and stepping motor. Its software is divided into modules which include man-machine interaction, interpolation and control, simulation, fault diagnosis and so on. The logic relationship between modules is rationally designed and organized with message mechanism. Man-machine module, NC control module, intelligent fault diagnosis module are developed:(1) Man-machine interactive moduleThe paper designs a simple practical man-machine interface. With it, we can carry out the input and edit of the NC code and operate equipment. It can lock wrong operations based on the logical relationships of NC machining and feed back machining information to operator. In graphic edit interface, the connection of basic graphics entity is used to realize the fast input and edit of irregular graphics, which fills the diversified requirements in machining the special-shaped stone.(2) NC control moduleBy software method, the main control functions of the CNC system is developed, which includes the interpolation, speed control and switching value control such as urgent stop, back to zero, reset and so on. Multi-threads technology and multi-media timer are used to improve the system's real-time ability.(3) Intelligent fault diagnosis moduleThe intelligent fault diagnosis functions, especially diamond wire-saw's broken, are implemented by the information-associated method. By sorting, checking, associating and judging the fault information, the system can identify and gradedifferent troubles automatically. Then, these troubles are treated automatically according to gradation of the fault, which is able to improve the reliability of the fault diagnosis and the stability of the CNC system.The paper designs and develops a comparative perfect NC platform which can meet the needs for processing different kinds of special-shaped stone. It has the advantages in high efficiency, practicality, applied wide-range and high cost performance, which are adaptable to the current special-shaped stone machining enterprise and are able to accelerate the development of stone industry.
