Three types of copolymers were synthesized in this work, which contained capsaicin or its anolog assembler containing acrylamide, such as moiety- N-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzyl)-acrylamide(HMBA) or N-[6-(acryloylamino-methyl)-benzo[l,3]dioxo]-5-methyl) -acrylamide (AMBMA) .And the polymers were characterized by FTIR.One type of copolymers was obtained via the copolymerization of HMBA (or AMBMA) and acrylamide or other acrylamide monomers, such as 2-Acryla mide-2-Methyl Propane Sulfonic Acid(AMPS.The copolymerizations were initia ted by K2S2O8 or V50 in aquatic solution .The obtained copolymers wereused as flocculants.And the results of treatments to kaoline suspension solution show ed that these copolymers have stronger flocculating ability than poly-(al-minium chloride).The copolymers were to gelate if the dosage of solvent changed in some range.These gelatins showed super absorbing capacity.The third type of copolymers were synthesized via copolymerizations of AMBMA (or HMBA) and some other monomers ,such as AM, BA ,EA, MMA . The copolymerizations were initiated by AIBN in organic solvent.This type of copolymers was used for preparing bactericidal coatings and antifouling coatings as main antifouling binder. The antifouling properties of the coatings were evaluated by an exposure to marine environment for more than 1 month,as well as using the inhibiting rate to the growth of alga as guideline in the lab.And a good antifouling effect was observed.The antibacterial activities of the coatings were evaluated by film applicator coating,and the results showed that all the coatings can restrain bacteria well.
