The mold filling course is closely related to quality of the casting, it is an importantcondition of obtaining the high-quality casting to understand and control the mold fillingcourse. Through the simulation of the mold filling course, the formative mechanism of themain casting defects were grasped, the casting technology parameter can be optimized, thequality of castings will be guaranteed, the trial-produce cycle can be shorten, and theproductive cost would be reduced.This paper is to the deficiencies and problems of computational efficiency existing inthree-dimension numerical simulation of the mold filling course at present, according tothe experiences of the earlier work, the research to the numerical simulation of the moldfilling process has been carried on, the main research contents are as follows.1. Three-dimension fluid field coupled with temperature field numerical simulation program was debugged. And worked out, three-dimension mold filling course can bitterly numerical simulated.2. Without the precision of calculating reduced, the border conditional question of free surface was simplified, while the three-dimension mold filling process was calculating, directly according every unit's fluid volume's functional value to approximately confirm free surface's position, to a certain degree the calculating complication was reduced, and the computational speed has been improved.3. The mold filling course of I-type cast steel was numerical calculated, and its mold filling course was analyzed, the defects predict had been made, compared with China Cast's result of calculation, the defects can be predicted correctly by the simulation results, and in view of the above, cast hollow round steel disk's mold filling course was numerical simulated and optimized the craft then simulated with improved craft.4.In the course of the treatment of the mold filling result of simulation, the algorithm logic with the figure system that the unit divided in difference as foundation and basis was adopted, the data result calculated has been developed visually, the metal liquidpacking state and temperature profile in the mold filling course were demonstrated. At the end of this paper, the work should be perfected further in the future isproposed.
