Oxidation of the high explosives hexahydro-1, 3, 5-trinitro-1, 3, 5-triazine(RDX) using Catalytic Wet Oxidation (CWO) is studied in this paper. CWO is an effective method through contrastive experiment. The reaction rate was strongly dependent on the reagent concentrations. Under the condition of the 50℃ , active carbon 1.0g,H2O2 1.0ml, PH 2 and FeSO4 0.035g, 97.35% of the RDX is completely removed in 40 minutes, and the concentration of the RDX which is released to the surface water has reached the national superlative standard. The primary relation of the different factors is H2O2 > PH > active carbon > FeSO4 > temperature. Through the experiment of precision, it is demonstrated that CWO is a stable mean. Some waste water which contain RDX are also effectively removed from water using the CWO, which shows the CWO could be broadly used in waste treatment. All the experimental data could be fit to a pseudo fist-order rate equation at 20℃ and 50℃. The reaction and product of RDX are analyzed using LLE followed by GC/MS. A product of RDX can be detected by GC/MS, we can also conclude the structures of this matter. Because of the high price, we must seek a method to reduce the cost of the treatment, so the active carbon is regenerated in high temperature in order to be used again.Other explosives such as TNT, HMX, DNT are effectively treated with the CWO, the quantity of COD is sharply descended.
