Electric cable bridge plug sitting technology is the best and most widely used sitting technology at present, the development of appropriate heat resistant propellant is the key to the domestication of electric cable bridge plug sitting tool.In this paper, according to the performance requirements of the propellant used in electric cable bridge plug, aimed at the very product of the Baker corporation which is at the lead level in the world in this field, heat resistant propellant is designed, appropriate preparing technics is put forward, then combustion performance , heat resistant performance and safety performance of the propellant are studied. The main results obtained are as follows:(1)According to the four performance requirements (heat resistant, gas produced discipline, burning rate, sensitivity), combining with zero oxygen balance discipline, foundational composition of the propellant is obtained, then according to the results of combustion experiment in normal pressure and high pressure, adjusted the content of inner components, the ultimate optimized composition is: DOA with the content of 16%, potassium perchlorate with the content of 35%, strontium nitrate with the content of 49%.(2)Combining with the normal preparing technics of composite propellant and pyrotechnics, considering the particularity of the components and the shape of the column, the preparing technics is introduced as follow: preparation of the original ingredients → mixing → pressing → making particles → packing, meanwhile, the experimental conditions of every step are introduced.(3)Through combustion experiment in normal pressure, differential thermal analysis and sensitivity experiments, the combustion performance, heat resistant performance and safety performance of the propellant are studied, the effects of components of the propellant, particle dimension and preparing technics on these performance are also discussed. The optimized propellant is suitable for the requirements of bridge plug sitting tool in heat resistant performance and safety performance, and its burning rate is close to the Baker's.
