o-MNT, p-MNT and m-MNT are got by mononitrating toluene, and the quantity of p-MNT and m-MNT that are needed is increased greatly, there is a great economic benefit to improve their ratioes , so the objective of this study is to improve the ratioes of p-MNT and m-MNT in the mononitration of toluene respectively through changing temperature and mixed acid composition in industrial way.In the facet of impoving the ratio of p-MNT, the optimal nitration conditions identified in this study are as follows: mixed acid is composed of 16.54 wt% water, 64.12 wt% sulfurid acid, 19.34 wt% nitric acid; the ratio of acid and oil is 3.57; the nitric acid ratio is 1.00; the reacting temperature is 45 ℃. The result by GC is 38.88 wt% p-MNT, 57.27 wt% o-MNT, 3.56 wt% m-MNT, 0.29 wt% DNT. To 36 wt%~38 wt% p-MNT in the current nitration conditions, the ratio of p-MNT has been improved a bit. It can be used in industry nitration.In the facet of impoving the ratio of o-MNT, the optimal nitration conditions identified in this study are as follows: mixed acid is composed of 18.67 wt% water, 55.18 wt% sulfurid acid, 26.15 wt% nitric acid; the ratio of acid and oil is 2.64; the nitric acid ratio is 1.00; the reacting temperature is 60℃. The result by GC is 5.05 wt% m-MNT, 57.63 wt% o-MNT, 37.08 wt% p-MNT, 0.25 wt% DNT. To 3.5 wt% o-MNT in the current nitration conditions, the ratio of o-MNT has been improved about 1.5 wt%.
