Chirality of drugs is an important aspect in fields of biological medicine. The separation of chiral drugs was once recognized as one of the most difficult work. With the development of various chiral technology, especially high-performance liquid chromatography, enantiospecific analysis is becoming a routine analytical task. In the present work, precolumn derivateization HPLC were used to separate and analyse catecolamines and amino acid.In part I a review on chiral resolution by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is presented. Basically ,three different approaches for the liquid chromatography resolution of enantiomers and the types of chiral selector are introduced. This review also deals with the development and present state of chiral selectors and chiral recognition mechanisms for enantiomers are descryibed. In part II ,separation and detection of catecholamines by high performanceliquid chromatography (HPLC).In part III to IV,epinephrine, norepinephrine, amino acids enantiomeric separation with fluorescent chiral derivatization by high performance liquid chromatography are presented.Enantiomers of epinephrine and amino acids were completely resoloved with R (-)/S(+)-DBD-PyNCS(R-(-)/S-(+)-4-(N,N-dimethylaminoulfonyl)-7-(3-isothio-cyamoaopyrrolidinn)-2,l,3-benzoxadiazole) as the fluorescent chiral deriveatization reagent on C18 column. In additional the influence of the mobile phase composition, pH, the,the concentration of chiral fluorescent reagent on the separation factor are studied. The method with DBD-PyNCS as the chiral fluorescent reagent for the separation of catecholamines, amino acids have been established.
