Gravure press which applies widely in packaging industry has a large market in domestic and abroad printing areas, and the system of automatic register controller is the important guarantee of the high precision pressing. The quickly developed microcontroller technology, especially the advent of digital signal processor, boosts the development of gravure press technology, and makes the realization of high efficient and precise register control system possible.Based on the theory and makeup of the process printing system, we analysed the characteristic of the system model. In order to find a control strategy adapt to the register system, we introduced several controller, then gave a new PID controller with threshold value, and gave several classes digital arithmetic of PID controller, and then realized them by assembly language.According to the working feature of gravure press, a novel control and realizing method of automatic register controller for gravure printing is presented in this paper. A new controller system is developed with multiple DSP- subsystems and a topper computer connected by CAN bus. The system's controller chip(DSP) which has powerful operation ability and excellent performance can make the controller system more precise. At the same time one toper computer can link dozens of sub- systems by CAN bus, so it can make the circuit more simple and upgrade more convenient.High efficient and reliable DSP chip TMS3201f2407 is embedded in this control system as the register controlling chip, making it more advanced than the traditional control system both in performance and reliability. The applications of the control system in practice show that the printing precision and printing speed of every gravure printing can be improved greatly with the help of the control system .So it has very good prospect in application.
