Electrolytic trough of aluminium is an important kind of productive equipment in the aluminium industry. The life-span of Electrolytic trough, not only concerns overhauling expenses aluminium output and quality, but also concerns the cost of aluminium and benefit of the whole aluminium enterprise.This paper introduces our national Electrolytic trough shell of aluminium evolutive history and course , by observing the feature of forepart trough breakage and summarizing typical types of trough breakage, deeply analyzing the course of trough breakage, so we can get the results of trough breakage which cause by trough lining and trough body breakage, and give several primary instance of trough breakage.This paper describes distortion of trough shell by observing the things of 160kA Electrolytic trough of aluminium breakage which put into production at Qinhai Aluminium Smelter of CHLCO in a period of teenage years ,and by measuring the distortion size of trough shell which are part of heavy repair Electrolytic trough of aluminium in 2003 year.By the analytic method and analytical method of numerical value, This paper analyses the stress of 160Ka Electrolytic trough of aluminium and calculates the camber of the trough shell, based this, we put forward a kind of new structure design method which not only minish camber of trough shell but atso reduce maximal stress, the trough which adopted new design method has put into production at Qinhai Aluminium Smelter , passing 3 years usage , the new structure can effectively prolong the life-span of the Electrolytic trough of aluminium.
