Gestalt Psychology As A Whole On The Costume Design In The Post-modern Era

We are in post-modernism period when the post-modernism thoughts have deep influence in the fashion design field. Enriching the designing layer and emphasizing the personality difference, post-modernism fashion design has all kinds of forms and broad content. It propels the fashion design development to some extent. However, it gives the fashion a characteristic of disorder, vagueness and the lack of harmony and unification.In the post-modernism fashion design field, the disorder, vagueness and the lack of harmony and unification give the fashion design a characteristic of confusion and hardship to be consistent. The Gestalt psychology aesthetics, which used to be the leading designing theory, instructs the art design with its unification as its methodology. In the post-modernism period, fashion's complexity in pattern structure, the mixture of different materials and the dazzling colors lead to a situation beyond control for fashion design. Therefore, the thesis is to apply the Gestalt laws of whole to the postmodernism fashion design, with the Gestalt consistent theory, analyze and demonstrate constitution of fashion patterns holistically harmonize and grasp the match of the fashion colors, and harmonize and organize the mixture of all kinds of materials in order to find a holistic order in the diversification of post-modernism fashion lest the disorder and vague situation appears.
