Sodium pyroglutamate ( PCA-Na ) is the key component of nature moisturizing factor (NMF), PCA-Na could improve the flexibility and elasticity of skin, PCA-Na has been received considerable attention because of its excellent moisture absorbability and moisture retention.PCA-Na was synthesized by the method of thermal decomposition of sodium glutamate in the form of solid. The process conditions, which affect the conversion rate were investigated. PCA-Na conversion rate was attained through working curve on optical rotation —percent conversion. The results indicated that the conversion rate exceed 96% at the thermal decomposition temperature 190°C and time 90min, moisture absorption and moisture retention capacity of the product were excellent.The comfort properties mainly including moisture absorption, moisture retention capacity and antistatic property of the cotton and polyester blended fabric were improved after the finishing of PCA-Na. PCA-Na was compounded with other nature functional moisture protection agents (chitosan), on the base of the comfort finishing to fabrics with chitosan, this paper investigated using PCA-Na to improve the properties of the fabrics, further to enhance the fabrics comfort property. The results indicated that moisture absorbability, moisture permeability and antistatic function of the treated fabrics were improved greatly when the finishing agent was prepared with chitosan (1%) and PCA-Na(50%) according to the ratio 10:1 and BTCA as the cross linking agent, resulted in the improvement of the comfort performance.Fabric treated with chitosan could be attained, which have antibacterial and health care function, however the antibacterial behavior of chitosan is weak, so finishing agent with good antibacterial function could be received by chelating KN with chitosan to strengthen antibacterial property. Orthogonal test showed that finishing agent recipe with high antibacterial activity was chitosan 0.5%, KN0.02%, stabilizing agent 0.1%, the whiteness of the treated fabric wasinfluenced slightly.Considering all the influences to fabric properties, optimization recipe of antibacterial and moisture retention capacity finishing agent ( PCF) was attained: chitosan 0.7%, PCA-Na 5% KN 0.02%, stabilizing agent 0.1%. Finishing agent ( PCF)and the treated fabric(PCF fabric) have Broad-spectrum antibiosis. PCF fabric also has good moisture absorption, moisture retention capacity and antistatic property.
