Air lift reactor (ALR) is a sort of gas-liquid reactord eveloped from bubble column and has been widely used in chemical industry, biologicalcal engineering and environmental protection duo to its simple construction, good mixing ,good heat conducting performance, and easy to be operated. Jet loop reactor(JLR) is eveloped from ALR, with high-efficient heterogeneous transmission performance, simple device structure, high heat and mass transfer rates, well mixing effects, low energy consumption and easy to be operatedeoBoth these two kind of reactors has been extensively studied by scholars athome and abroad, including trying to evaluate its hydrodynamics performance andtransmiting capability from material character, operation condition and constructions ofthe reactor. Most research about ALR and JLR's performance is focused on aerobiosisc ourse, which need reactor of high ratio of height to diameter . Few reports about the reactors with low ratio of height to diameter can be found.Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has been used to analyze the flow, mixing and mass transfer characters of fluid Contrast to conventional study, It can not only save a lot of resource, but also get can provided more information of flow and mass transfer in airlift bioreactor, which can be directly used to design and scale up airlift bioreactor. In this paper, Considering the character of aerobic reaction, Flow and mixing characteristic of one kind of airlift loop bioreactor with low ratio of height to diameter (H/D=1.67) are studied, the computational fluid dynamics code FLRENT 6.2.16 is used to simulate the fluid behaviors of gas and liquid in an air lifted loop reactor with suitable multiphase model and turbulence model, the statuses of different superficial gas velocities and different outemal liquid flux on the gas-liquid flow is researched.some detailed descriptions of the local hydrodynamic parameters of both liquid and gas phases, such as the vector of liquid and gas velocity, the streamline plan, k,ε , liquid turbulent viscosity distribution's obtained in an interal-loop airlift reactor. Analyzed and explained these...
