A novel electromagnetic pumping unit driven by linear induction motor (LIM) is proposed in allusion to the disadvantages of traditional beam pumping long drive chain, bad controllability and low efficiency.A new method is explored to solve the problem of high loss of energy in oil field principium.The feasibility of the novel LIM pumping unit is particular analyzed, and the collectivity project is designed. Firstly, the type and the configuration of the LIM are confirmed. Based on the analysis of the motor work characteristic, the LIM's mostly parameters are confirmed. Secondly, a cylinder LIM is designed, simultaneity a method of calculating and simulating the electromagnetic field by using finite element method is introduced. Thirdly, the startup characteristic of the LIM is analyzed and the variable-frequency and speed regulating control strategy of the LIM is designed. Finally, the model of the novel LIM pumping unit is built. The model's installation and debugging are introduced detailedly. The main data of the system is measured by taking different load.The experiment data indicates that the novel LIM pumping unit model can attain the design goal of energy saving.
