Ramie Yarn Sizing Study

Ramie is China's national treasure and China accounts for more than 90% in the global ramie production. The ramie fabrics have the properties of ventilation, anti-bacterium and healthy, which are in accordance with the personnel pursuit of comfort and health in the wearing process. The development of ramie fabrics plays an important role in the reasonably using of natural resources and enhancing the competition capability internationally of our country's textile productsIn the ramie fabrics production, there exist some problems, of which the most prominent one is the warp yarn feathers. The key of the solution is to control the sizing quality and to make reasonable sizing prescription and sizing technology. In recent years, although a lot of explorations have been made in the sizing technology, the correspondent understanding on the essential questions such as sizing instruction, sizing technology and so on haven't been formed. As a result, the warp yarn question isn't solved effectively.By understanding the problems existed in the weaving production through the in-depth market investigation, this paper analyzed the causes of the problems, made the sizing experiment in the sample sizing machines, tested the sizing quality and analyzed the results statistically. The sizing instruction was made with the reasonable two general revolving testing methods. New sizing technology route was selected and small patch sizing production experiment was conducted to confirm and to further improve the sizing instruction and sizing technology according to the problems caused in the experiment. Finally, the best sizing instruction has been made, that is, the equal quantity (3%) confusion of the oxidized corn starch with the strong adhesion, 1799-PVA with high intensity and elongation and PAP with strong moisture absorption and permeation.The studied best sizing instruction was applied to the mass production, the results showed that the sizing quality was obviously improved, the yarn feathers were docile, the yarn elasticity was maintained and the wear-resistance was increased. The weaving efficiency and the product quality were improved and considerable economic profit was brought in to the production mill.
