Nitration is one of the most common and earliest organic reactions. It occupies an important position in the field of organic compounds' synthesis. This paper reviews the recent progress of aromatic compounds green nitrification reaction. According to the mechanism of toluene nitration reaction, functional room temperature ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-sulfonic acid-hydrogen sulfate salt imidazo [MIMPS][HSO4] is designed and synthesized. Comsidering the representative toluene as nitrification substrate, using ionic liquid [MIMPS][HSO4] catalyst system, the technology research analysises the reaction conditions including temperature, feed ratio, time factors and so on. Optimal conditions is drawn by the ionic liquid catalyst that the feed ratio of 68% nitric acid nitration is up to 10% higher than general nitration, while the ionic liquid catalyst 90% nitric acid nitration yield is up to 96.9%, p / o values of 0.81. The results of the reuse activity of ionic liquids are good. The experiment studys the ionic liquid catalysting toluene green nitration, its reaction products can be simply dumped analysis can be achieved with the product catalytic denitrification system of separation of the catalyst could be recycled. The waste acid form the nitration is a single system of dilute nitric acid, can be added a certain amount of concentrated nitric acid so that it reaches the reaction of the concentration required to participate in recycling reaction. The treatment of waste acid makes economic and environmental purpose. This technology is a green chemical process, and can be well developed in future.
