In china, the contingency that caused campus students' injuries is increasing with the rate of 14 percent per year. As the enlarging of the enrollment and the expanding of universities and institutes, more and more student injury accidents happened. However, currently our country hasn't made any standards for estimating campus contingency risks. Although many places established their own estimating regulations, the regulations are varied and too complicated which are not available for promotion and generalization. Thus, the research of campus contingency estimating is no time to delay. The latent dangers and deleterious factors of the north campus of ZHENGZHOU University including its residential area for teachers are estimated using Safety Review and Preliminary Hazard Analysis. Such hidden hazards factors as fire, lightening, poisonous gas, explosion, traffic, buildings, sports injury and so on were analyzed. The existing areas of those risks were given and their origins were found out. According to relating laws by the nation, some concrete contingency measurements were suggested. Meanwhile, the natural gas system of the residential area for teachers was investigated and estimated thoroughly using Fault Tree Analysis. The basic events that may invalidate the natural gas system were found out and the Fault Tree was set up therefore. After qualitative analysis of the Fault Tree, (we calculated ),sorted the order of each basic events by their configurable significance, found the most influencing basic event to upper event, and finally fixed all the factors that might cause the natural gas system expired. Then, the flammable gas dispersion computing model was discussed. According to the distribute regulation of the flammable gas dispersion speed and density indoors, and combined with national standard《Code for design of city gas engineering》GB 50028-93 7.4, some suggestions to the gas system and to the prevention methods for residents were put forward. In the end, certain solutions for the safety construction and management for the community were given in order to build a Safe Students' Community. Through all the investigation and analysis, we estimated all hidden risk factor; put forward efficient counter measures which gave the foundation of campus safety administration, offered reference for communities alike. It is helpful for policy making to further prevent campus contingency accidents.
