The titled copolymer was prepared from dimethyl-diallylammonium chloride (DMDAAC), N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) and isooctyl acrylate (IA), through radical polymerization in absolute alcohol aqueous media. The properties of PDNIA were described. The results revealed that the specific viscosity of PDNIA solution increases with the decreasing of its concentration in very dilute solution, its macromolecule electrolyte properties were proved; the apparent viscosity of copolymer solution increases notably with increasing copolymer concentration above a critical value, the higher the hydrophobic unit content in a copolymer, the more the enhancement in viscosity of its solutions, the study also showed that P(DMDAAC-NVP-IA) are tolerant to salts. At last, the interaction between naproxen (NAP) and ethylic cellulose(EC) was investigated by UV,IR,XRD and DSC,the effect of the synthesized polymer PDNIA and Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) on the interaction was also investigated.the naproxen sustained-released tablets were prepared using PDNIA or PVP as the porosity-making agent. The effects of manufacture parameters on sustained release matrix tablets during the course of testing prescription to producing prescription were investigated. The results were shown that there were electrostatic association and solubilization effect between PDNIA and naproxen. It would be appropriate to use PDNIA rather than PVP as the sustained-release agent in naproxen sustained-released tablets. The effects of rotate speed, compression force and the proportion of PDNIA were significant. When the ratio of PDNIA :EC was bigger than 3%:5%,the quantity of PDNIA showed significant effects on the sustained release.
